WRA hosts Watercare to support health of the awa
The Waikato River Authority hosted Watercare for a hui to strengthen relationships and explore practical ways to support the health and well-being of the Waikato and Waipā rivers.
Watercare, a council-controlled organisation of the Auckland Council, is self-funding and is now subject to economic regulation. We acknowledge our Watercare colleagues for a constructive hui. They shared long-term water-supply options, progress in reducing water use, and the challenges of supplying a growing Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland alongside business demand and new developments. The Waikato River Authority shared updates on the review of Te Ture Whaimana, the WRA funding process, and the Five-Year Report, highlighting progress on restoration.
We agreed to continue regular engagement and discuss matters of mutual benefit.
