Apply for funding

The Waikato River Authority welcomes applications from individuals, organisations, and iwi for projects to help restore the health and well-being of the Waikato and Waipā Rivers and their catchments. All applications must be made online via SmartyGrants.

Applications opened on 2nd June 2026 and Applications closed on 27th July 2026 at 4pm

• Complete the application in SmartyGrants at your own pace, save regularly, navigate between sections using the form menu, and return to your draft anytime via My Submissions.
  
  
• Before submitting, review your application and ensure all required fields are complete. Once submitted, you cannot make changes, so confirm you receive the submission confirmation email.
  
  
• Upload any required supporting documents (recommended under 5 MB per file), and if multiple people are contributing, only one person should edit the application at a time using the same login.
  
  
• Please note that paper applications & late applications will not be accepted
