River Banks Humming at Regatta
The banks of the Waikato River were humming with the red and white colours of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Bernard Fergusson as they were named overall champions of the primary school waka kopapa racing section at the 130th Tūrangawaewae Regatta in March.
Bernard Fergusson, leaders Ormsby and [missing name] proudly collected the carved trophy on behalf of their kura.
The Waikato River Authority sponsors the waka kopapa primary school competition at the Tūrangawaewae Regatta, with Kaihautū Antoine Coffin presenting several trophies to paddlers who placed first, second, and third.
