Every year, members from the New Zealand Bowhunters Society converge on the Waikato which is the heart of koi carp country. It was first run in 1990 has become one of the premier events on the New Zealand Bowhunters Society calendar.

Rule Changes for 2026
- All ties will now be decided by weigh-in time.
- The “heaviest white carp” division has been replaced by “heaviest koi carp by a new member.”
- Hybrid carp are no longer eligible for “heaviest other fish.”
